Who Was Ari?

Ari Joseph Magder was born on May 3, 1983. He died on April 27, 2012, in his sleep, from acute bronchial pneumonia. He was 28 years old.

During his short life, Ari accomplished more things than most people do in a lifetime. At the age of 16, Ari was accepted into the prestigious combined program of biomedical engineering at Worchester Polytechnical Institute and doctor of veterinary medicine at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Ari was a child actor, and his favorite role was “Dan” in the PBS children’s series ShiningTime Station starring George Carlin.

He was an accomplished photographer and writer. He was an entrepreneur. He taught himself a computer language known only by a few other programmers in Los Angeles.

You lived your life
Like a candle in the wind.
You were always there to turn to
When the rain set in.

But the love and pride you gave us
And the lessons that we learned
Have moved us all toward the light
And so your candle burned.

The pages of your book of life
Were torn away too soon.
But you left us all with the tools to write
Your book, your life, your song.

I wished to love you longer.
But that was not to be.
Your job was done.
Your candle burned.
It was time to set you free.

Ari’s Dream

Three Muskateers. Best friends forever…

Ari’s dream was to open his own animal hospital where he would treat rescued animals and pets of the homeless as well as regular patients. He had a wonderful affinity toward all animals and there was never an animal that didn’t feel drawn to him. His philosophy was simple: all animals deserve to be healthy, happy and safe.

Just chillin’ and thinkin’

Ari did not live long enough to realize his dream. On the day he died, his mother, Carrol, made a promise to do whatever she could to improve the lives of animals in need.

Ari Had a Dream was founded in the fall of 2015 by Carrol Magder. The organization became a reality through the hard work and commitment of a small group of passionate volunteers who joined together to honor the memory of Ari.

Ari Had A Dream was incorporated in October, 2015. The organization was granted its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status (#47–5461735) in May, 2016.
